Sculptured Hat making Workshop suitable for Royal Ascot

Why not make your very own head-turning sculptured headpiece to wear to this year's Royal Ascot or other racing event?

We are offering a special one-off workshop for this on Saturday 12th May at our studio/shop in the centre of Reading, Berkshire.

This workshop is available for up to 6 people and will last all day (10 am - 5 pm). The cost will be £125 per person and is a fantastic idea for a group of ladies who wish to go as a group with a theme. All materials are included in the price.

Prior to attending the workshop we suggest that you contact us with reference to the colour of your outfit and that of the headpiece you would like to make to ensure we have the appropriate materials available.

During the workshop you will learn tradition millinery methods of how to use sinamay to make a base, how to wire, edge and sculpt sinamay and attach to the base.
Your finished piece will be a sinamay sculpture with height on a hairband and will be a totally unique design to you.

Drinks and snacks will be provided throughout the day, but we suggest you bring your own packed lunch or buy from one of the many local cafes and shops in Reading.

To book this workshop please go into the workshop page on the website and book.

For more information please contact us by phone or email on 01189 504421 and adriennehenrymillinery@gmail.com

Wedding Style Guide: How to wear a hat to a wedding

Whether you are the mother of the bride or groom, the bride herself or just a guest wanting to make a statement, here is our guide to wearing hats to a wedding. The points listed below are just a guide, but ultimately we would always suggest you wear whatever you feel most comfortable in.

1. Hat etiquette/positioning
Ladies hats are traditionally worn on the right as dictated by old etiquette where the lady would wear her hat on the right, while her gentleman partner would wear his sword to the left, balancing each other out. Of course nowadays hats can be worn on either side as we no longer follow this etiquette, but you will generally find any purchased hat will be made to be worn on the right or with the decoration on the right. If you would prefer a hat on the left this is perfectly acceptable and a milliner will happily make one for you.

2. Hat proportion
The hat size should be in proportion with the wearer. If you are petite, a pillbox hat or smaller brimmed hat will probably suit…

Autumn & Winter  Hat
This is the second cloche in our La  Parisienne collection. Very similar to our last post but the cloche is in a different colour and slightly different in style. Each of our cloches are bespoke, two are never quite the same. Today we are working hard creating a new style for the next collection. La Parisienne will be on our newly revamped website within the next couple of weeks; http://www.adriennehenrymillinery.co.uk
The Parisienne collection will be available to buy on line. Each hat will be made to order and in a variety of colours.

The cloches are also available to buy every Tuesday and Wednesday at The Apple Market, Covent Garden London. Many different cloches, headpieces and hats we make are available to buy here.
